Our Story

Ballycanal accommodation is a family business which opened in 2003 following an extensive renovation programme.  Prior to this Ballycanal Manor had been run as a successful Guest house for many years. In fact the 1950 census states the meaning of the name Ballycanal as ‘the townland or road of the habitation or guest-house’.  The business was expanded in 2005 through the development of 5 self catering cottages. Christina is responsible for the overall running of the business and is a graduate from Cardiff university where she studied Hotel Management with Tourism. Christina has many years experience working within the hospitality industry and in other business environments. Christina and her team pride themselves on the quality accommodation, and service they provide to their guests. The business has been awarded four stars by NI Tourism and is an accredited member of the Worldhost Customer Service scheme.

Recently the Manor house has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme, which has created a truly boutiuqe B&B product. NIreland first ever Heritage Canal Cafe has been created to tell the story of the fantastic history that surrounds the site.
